O filme relata a vida de um grupo de jovens viciados em heroína em Edimburgo na Escócia. Num subúrbio de Edimburgo, quatro jovens sem perspectivas mergulham no submundo para manter seu vício pela heroína caminhando inexoravelmente para o fim da amizade e, simultaneamente em direcção à auto-destruição. Nada se esconde desde o prazer que as drogas dão, "multiplica o teu melhor orgasmo por mil e nem assim te aproximas", até ao mundo podre e sujo que elas podem levar.
Um filme frenético, inquietante, perturbador, cómico, dramático...genial!
